Coffee bean is the seed of the fruit, which is sustainably grown & reveal human story behind the beans. Chikmagalur in Karnataka offers cool climate & high altitude. Trees are cultivated with care & grow for about 3 to 5 years before they flower & produce fruit called coffee cherries. One healthy arabica tree produces about 1-5 kg (2.25 - 11 lb) coffee cherries in a season. You need 5-6 kg (11-13.25 lb) coffee cherries to make 1 kg (2.25 lb) coffee beans. At harvest, coffee cherries are either washed, naturally processed or monsooned. To become beans, coffee cherries are processed using dry process (natural) or wet process (washed or pulped natural)

Both commercial & specialty companies describe their coffee as either blend or single origin. Our best quality coffee beans are described with detail such as by region, variety, processing method and flavour. Indian arabica & robusta are especially popular for espresso preparation because they are heavy-bodied & low in acidity. Indian coffee is grown under shade, normally alongside other crops such as pepper, cardamom, ginger, nuts, oranges, vanilla, bananas, mangoes & jackfruits.
